Flying with babies or Toddlers? our top Travel survival Tips

I'll be honest, the first time we flew with with baby was at 6 weeks, under pretty unique circumstances. Melbourne was in and out of lockdown, and with a couple of state borders recently opening up, we decided to go on an impromptu trip to South Australia (and if you were wondering, it was at a time when Australia was so strict, we could be pretty confident the other 25 people on the flight were covid-free). Since then, I would estimate we’ve probably been on pretty close to 50+ flights with the kids.

You would think that, as a result, we would have things all under control. But spoiler alert: travelling with kids is not easy. There’s tips and tricks you pick up along the way, but every journey is different. Delays, lost baggage, illness… there’s so much that’s outside of your control, and sometimes the exhaustion is the only constant.

Here's the thing though - flying with a baby or toddler doesn't have to be a disaster. It might still be hard (let's not pretend otherwise), but with the right prep, the right gear, and a few mindset shifts, it becomes a lot more "manageable chaos" and a lot less "I’m never doing this again." So whether you're booking your kid's first flight or you're a seasoned travel-with-tots veteran looking to tighten up your system, here's everything we wish someone had told us from the get-go.

Finding Joy in the Tiny Moments: The Power of Glimmers in Motherhood

I’ll be honest… I’m not sure I can say I’m enjoying the everyday grind of motherhood. I feel so terrible saying that… but it just feels like a bit of a slog of never-ending nagging, non-stop negotiation battles, endless time-management, and constantly picking up after everyone… and the house still feels like a disaster zone. by the end of the day. Tell me I’m not the only one?! Frankly, this shit is full-on, and there’s a reason that it feels hard. But I also know that I need a bit of a mindset shift, and so when I came across this concept, I knew it was something I had to share.

Why the concept of “Good enough parenting” is the permission slip you need

I hear it in our groups all the time… Am I doing enough tummy time? How do we get enough iron in their diet? I’m feeling terrible because I shouted at my toddler. Thanks to a perfectly-curated world at our fingertips, before we know it we’ve entered into motherhood with the weight of the world on our backs… and the pressure to do things absolutely perfectly. A carefully curated blend of organic snacks, enriching activities, emotional attunement, and the vague but persistent sense that you should ALWAYS be doing more…. of course, with a smile on your face, all of the time.

What’s really going on behind “Mom Brain”?

If you’ve ever walked into a room and forgotten why, put your coffee in the pantry, or called your kids by the wrong name, you’ve probably blamed “mom brain.” I’m totally guilty of this (query: early dementia?)… it often feels like your brain took a vacation without telling you. But dive a little deeper, and neuroscience tells a very different - and much cooler - story. What looks like forgetfulness on the surface is actually your brain undergoing one of the most significant rewiring events of adult life. Understanding this, and it’s impact on matrescence, can help reframe those negative self-talk moments into something superpower-like. Hear me out…

Meals Without the Mental Load: Vancouver Edition

Honestly, parenting is hard enough without the mental load of trying to figure out (never mind cook) what’s for dinner. It’s probably the household task that weighs heaviest on me… between weekly meal planning, grocery shopping, offering variety to the kids, trying to cook with two preschoolers running around, and prepping lunchboxes. These days, I’m all about ease…
